The Environment is not an easy thing to describe. However, in the world of work “the Environment” now means how you manage your effect on it, what impact positively or negatively does your business have on it, in many cases the measure of sustainability determined by how you run all aspects of your business.

So how do you manage it?

We think that many companies already have it, are managing it and are proudly wearing the T-shirt. Some have given or been giving it some thought and others have it on the TO DO LIST. Some have not yet got that far.

Perhaps the recent Climate Control Conference and political perspective has started to make you think.

For those that tender for the work you do, the “Supplier Questionnaires” have been asking you for a policy and to answer some questions about energy management, waste management, emissions, packaging and recycling. We are pleased to say that we have some experience in these things and that first is what can you do that is free.

• Talk to your customers about it, how can you help them, and they help you become “greener”
• Ask your staff
• Find a local company that will take away the “office” recycling so getting your staff to be more aware of how much you care about it

In many cases, it will be free, in some cases, the waste has value, at least you can have confidential paper securely disposed of, and housekeeping gets a boost!
